10-Day West-to-Central Bhutan

Day 1: Paro to Thimphu 

Arrival at Paro Airport (PBH). Visit the Tamchog Lhakhang iron bridge on the drive to the capital.Evening visit to the National Memorial Chorten and the grand Tashichho Dzong. (Overnight: Thimphu)

Day 2: Thimphu Exploration 

Visit the giant Buddha Dordenma statue and the Motithang Takin Preserve (National Animal).Explore the Zorig Chusum (Painting School) and the Postal Museum to print your own stamps. (Overnight: Thimphu)

Day 3: Thimphu to Punakha

Cross Dochula Pass (3,100m) to see the 108 stupas. Hike to Chimi Lhakhang (Fertility Temple).Explore the riverside Punakha Dzong, the most beautiful fortress in Bhutan. (Overnight: Punakha)

Day 4:Punakha to Phobjikha

Hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten through terraced rice fields.Drive to the serene, glacial Phobjikha Valley, winter home of the Black-necked Cranes. (Overnight: Phobjikha)

Day 5 : Phobjikha to Trongsa

Morning walk on the Gangtey Nature Trail and visit the 17th-century Gangtey Monastery.Scenic drive to Trongsa, crossing the Pele La Pass. Visit the massive Trongsa Dzong. (Overnight: Trongsa)

 

Day 6 : Trongsa to Bumthang

Visit the Ta Dzong (Watchtower Museum) before a 3-hour drive to the spiritual valleys of Bumthang.Explore the local Jakar town and visit the Red Panda Brewery & Swiss Cheese factory. (Overnight: Bumthang)

Day 7 : Bumthang (Spiritual)

Visit Jambay Lhakhang and Kurjey Lhakhang, where the patron saint Guru Rinpoche left a body print. Explore Tamshing Lhakhang to see ancient Buddhist mural art and textiles. (Overnight: Bumthang)

Day 8 : Bumthang to Paro

Take a domestic flight from Bumthang to Paro (35 mins) to skip the 10-hour drive back.Visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples, and explore the National Museum. (Overnight: Paro)

Day 9 : Paro – Tiger’s Nest

The legendary all-day hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), perched on a cliff 900m high.Enjoy a final Bhutanese Hot Stone Bath and a celebratory dinner at a local farmhouse. (Overnight: Paro)

Day 10 : Departure

Enjoy a final breakfast and spend some time in Paro town for last-minute souvenirs.Transfer to Paro International Airport for your scheduled departure.
